Labor for Your Family

“Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:”

Proverbs 24:3

 

Oh, how we need to labor for our families.  There was a poll taken recently between Christian families and non-Christian families in the areas of television, movies, chat-rooms, drugs for depression, and divorce.  The results of this poll were staggering.  There was very little difference between the Christian family and the non-Christian family.  Oh, how we need your family to help make the gap so much bigger between those of the world and those that are children of God. 

 

The devil fights the family so hard because of the picture that the family shows.  Ephesians 5:31-32 says, “For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.  This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.”  This verse shows the way that Christ and His church are to function.  There is to be love, submission, and unity.  The Christian family is to be separate from the world and show the holiness of Christ.  The devil does not want this witness to be shown to the lost, so he is fighting to ruin marriages and families to hinder the name of Christ.

 

In order for our families to reflect Christ, we must fight and labor for them.  Labor requires everything that we have.  We must invest prayer, energy, and time into our families.  This labor needs to revolve around the Word of God.  We need the wisdom, understanding, and counsel of the Bible just as Proverbs 24:3 says.  The only way that we can have a home that is firm and strong is through wisdom and understanding.

 

Won’t you just put the devil back where he belongs?  Won’t you labor for your family by submerging them into the Word of God and investing prayer, energy, and time into them?  Won’t you determine to have your family reflect the picture of Christ and His church to the best of your ability?

 

Let’s labor for our families and not let Satan have the victory.
