God’s Plan of Provision

by Dr. Paul Chappell

“And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”

Genesis 2:18, 21-24

As we look at the account of Creation today, notice verse 18, “And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” After God made each part of the world, He said that it was good. However, after He made Adam, He did not say it was good. God realized that Adam needed someone to help him in his life.

God, seeing Adam’s need, created a woman from Adam’s rib. God noticed man’s incompleteness; Adam was missing something. When God presented Eve to Adam, she was everything that Adam was not; she made up for everything he did not have.

God not only considered the need of Adam, but He considers your need today. He knows what your needs are and when to provide them. I am glad that I serve a God that is omnipresent enough to see my needs and to provide for them.

Matthew 10:29-31 says, “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.” God sees and knows everything! He created the entire universe, and He still looked down to consider the need of Adam.

Friend, God knows your need today. He has known you since before you were born and He wants you to have everything that you need. This doesn’t mean that God will always give you what you want. Don’t get discouraged if God doesn’t answer your prayer the way you want; He is Almighty and He knows what’s best for us!

My parents were missionaries in Korea when I was a Bible college student in Southern California, and I was just about as lonely as a guy could be. I had one blue sport’s coat to my name and I didn’t really know how to take care of things. I remember going down to the school laundry room and throwing that coat in the hottest water I could find. Funny thing, it never fit after that! I don’t know how it all worked out, but I believe that God looked down and said, “It is not good.” Shortly thereafter, He allowed me to meet my wife Terrie and we began to date. I believe that God planned that in my life.

God has a plan for our lives and He is considering your need today. He loves you, and He hasn’t forgotten your address! God knows what we need and when we need it. Friend, how can God provide for our needs if we never ask Him! Ask God today for those things which you need and let God handle it. He has a divine plan for you!
